About Me

I am currently in my second year of a BA in Communications and Media Studies. Previously, I graduated from the University of Wollongong with a BA in Creative Arts, with a focus on sound and installation art.

I have been particularly interested in the notion of ‘damaged sound’; my blog is called Laedi Sonus, which literally translates to ‘damaged sound’.  Sound has no discernable substance or mass; rather, a sound is often considered to be a process. The articulation of sound as something tangible, like an object, is something I continue to explore.

Fun facts! I am a movie-lover and television binge-watcher. My favourite poets are Virginia Woolf (especially ‘Mrs Dalloway’) and Elizabeth Bishop. My favourite artists are Cindy Sherman, Andy Warhol, Louise Bourgeois, Barbara Kruger, Jonathan Jones and Tracey Moffatt (to name a few!).  I often find myself more interested in the theory behind an artwork rather than the artwork itself. I am extremely interested in the theory of Semiotics with a focus on the theorists Foucault and Saussure.
